Uzes to Anduze

A few pics from dinner last night, plus today's ride. The entire crew came in after our warm up ride to the Pond Garde - an amazing Roman aqueduct, built by hand and still standing, it is an incredible thing to see. Almost equally amazing was a Haribo factory along the way - smelled like Willy Wonka!

This olive tree was planted in the mid-1800's. Amazing in its age and size. And the Pont Garde itself. From one end to the other, it drops 2 centimeters to keep the water flowing. Again, all built by hand, including the cutting of individual stones. The Romans were incredible to say the least.

Back in the hotel, and time to support the local brewers.

And, here we go today. A longish day, but not too bad climbing.

We are in the Languedoc region of France, which is one of the world's largest wine-grape production areas. Some of the roads today felt a lot like home.

A final coffee stop a few kilometers from our Hotel in Anduze. A kids merry-go-round was packed up with some unofficial art. 

Some of the group couldn't resist ice cream as part of the stop - not realizing it came with feathers and windmills.

Wifi is bad at this hotel - we are way out in the country. So this is the end of the blog for today. More to come tomorrow, I hope, including some catch up pics from tonight's dinner maybe. Love to all at home.
